The Way of the Ox
A Zen story from the 12th century inspired us. It is told through ten beautiful images, with a boy and a buffalo as its main protagonists — the buffalo symbolizing the mind.
The boy sets out to find and tame the lost animal that, for so long, has roamed freely, “running across high plateaus and through distant gorges.” He seeks to ride it and return home, now complete.
Yet the buffalo keeps running away from him — always on the run (runaway).
